About the Role
A major independent publishing house, employee-owned and one of the largest in the country, is looking for a Senior Publicist to lead campaigns across a range of adult trade titles. The company has been in operation for nearly a century and publishes for the long term across trade and college markets.
This role is hands-on publicity work: building campaign strategy, pitching media, placing op-eds and excerpts, booking author events, and following up across print, online, broadcast, podcast, and influencer channels. The Senior Publicist will collaborate daily with colleagues in marketing, editorial, and across the publicity department. The position is based at the publisher's New York City headquarters.

What the Role Covers
• Creating and executing strategic publicity plans for adult trade titles
• Pitching and following up with print, online, broadcast, podcast, and influencer media
• Placing op-eds, essays, and excerpts
• Arranging and promoting author events
• Collaborating with publicity, marketing, and editorial teams on a daily basis
Qualifications
• 4-6 years of book publicity experience
• Bachelor's degree
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to secure media coverage and deliver results
• Experience with research-intensive campaign development
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with close attention to detail
• Based in or able to commute to New York City
