Senior Quality Assurance Manager

Pelwatte Dairy Industries Ltd is Sri Lanka's largest & fastest growing local dairy owner with more than 10,000 local dairy farmers. Pelwatte Group, in its ambition to diversify into other agribusiness areas, have ventured into the Coconut Processing & Value addition sectors. Now we are in the process of establishing a dynamic management team to take the venture forward. We have an exciting opportunity for a suitable candidate to join as the Senior Quality Assurance Manager in our newly established Coconut Processing facility in Chilaw.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, process, and product stability via SPC, and reliability of company products.
• Prepare reports for ongoing monitoring of High Risk/PEP relationships to be presented to relevant committees.
• Complete Sanctions checking and sign off prior to completion of transactions.
• Participate in & lead various projects relating to compliance & regulatory initiatives.
• Help Senior Manager QA with preparation for inspections both external & internal.
• Determining completed audit work for each quarter to review samples for QA, peer and focused reviews that cover both domestic and international audit work.

• Provide coaching to junior staff and peer reviewers to ensure QAs are adequately completed in line with internal requirements and reviewers develop knowledge of audit methodology.
• Completion and reporting of the annual IAD self-assessment, preparing for periodic external quality assurance reviews, in accordance with professional standards.
• • Conducting on-going research of auditing standards, guidance or industry best practices communicated by various audit institutes, regulators or consulting firms, including performing impact analysis and reporting/presenting results to senior management.
• Liaising with regulators and other 3rd parties during external reviews of IAD practices, including providing draft responses to recommendations and implementing agreed upon action plans.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• M.sc I B.sc Food Science & Technology / Microbiology and equivalent professional qualifications
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment with minimum 3 years' experience in coconut manufacturing.
• Knowledge in ISO 22000 | HACCP 1 FSSC 22000 | IFS/BRC is a prerequisite.
• A strong problem-solving attitude & willingness to think "Out of the box" & work across department Boundaries.
• Aged below 45 years, prepared to work long hours, display a sense of commitment to the job & able to work under pressure.
• Excellent written & spoken communication skills both in English & Sinhala with positive attitude.
• Motivational and interpersonal skills & ability to establish good working relations with staff and management.
• Computer literacy especially Ms Office.
• A good team player with flexibility & adaptability to work in a different environment.
