Te Whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity - Senior Quantity Surveyor
The Senior Quantity Surveyor is a key commercial and contractual leadership role within the QS, Cost & Contract Services team, providing inhouse expert commercial and contractual advice, Quantity Surveying and Estimating services primarily across the Infrastructure Project Delivery division of the business.
The role will be focussed on assisting the Independent Certifier (IC) with preparing contract payment schedules, and where required, advising and assessing contractual entitlement to variations and extensions of time. This ensures AT's contractual position is protected at all times.
Key tasks will include:
Providing SME advice and assisting the IC on NZS3910:2023 terms, AT's standard physical works contracting document.
Providing SME advice on AT's contractual position on a contractual and Extension of Time claim. Advise the IC on same.
Advising Senior Management and PM's on risk and extent of cost liability on the matters above.
Providing QS support to the IC by way of receiving claims and preparing payment schedule recommendations in a timely manner and in accordance with the contract.
Prepare a cost estimate for a PM (internal customer), generally of a lower value, and sometimes at short notice, providing an invaluable and cost-effective in-house service. This will involve measuring (BlueBeam) and compiling an SOP using established practices.
Peer review a PQS provided cost estimate against AT's Cost Estimate Guide and expected current market cost rates and Contingencies.
Ensuring accepted variation claims are priced in accordance with the Contract.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
Degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.
Minimum 15 years Quantity Surveying or Project Management experience on a wide range and scale of infrastructure projects.
Expert knowledge of NZS3910.
Strong knowledge of NZ/Auckland transport and infrastructure sectors.
High EQ - Strong relationship and team building skills.
Defining project scope by understanding and quantifying drawings using established QS methodologies and techniques.
Experience in building up cost estimates and constructively interrogating and negotiating outsourced cost estimates to establish the best outcome for AT and AT's funders.
