GFT is looking for a Senior Rail Bridge Engineer to join our dynamic Transportation Team. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of our offices in Santa Ana, Los Angeles, Irvine, or San Diego, CA.

As part of our Transportation team at GFT, you'll have the opportunity to engage in impactful projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and strengthen community connectivity. Our expertise in bridge design spans over a century, covering a variety of structures from concrete and steel highway bridges to cutting-edge rail bridges. You will work on complex rail projects for Class I railroads, short lines, and transit agencies, including significant initiatives like the Merchant Bridge Replacement and Retrofit.

Key Responsibilities:
• Execute complex design tasks for rail bridge projects, focusing on structural design, rehabilitation, and inspections.
• Conduct thorough bridge inspections and perform structural analysis and design in compliance with AREMA standards and project requirements.
• Prepare high-quality design reports, load ratings, construction documents, specifications, and estimates, ensuring adherence to project budgets and timelines.
• Oversee quality control and assurance processes throughout project execution.
• Review and verify calculations, design drawings, and construction documents produced by team members.
• Assist in the development and finalization of CADD drawings.
• Maintain organized documentation of design calculations and align with GFT's Quality Management Plan.
• Monitor contract changes and proactively advise management on necessary updates.
• Enhance professional skills through workshops, publications, and participation in professional societies.

Your Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering with a focus on structures from an ABET-accredited institution.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in structural design for Class I and transit bridge projects.
• Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) license.
• Experience with AREMA Manual for Railroad Engineering and familiarity with Class I railroad bridge standards.
• Strong background in structural engineering, with proficiency in MicroStation and experience creating structural engineering design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• A collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills.
• Competence in MS Office Suite and experience with engineering design software such as LEAP Bridge Concrete, LPILE, GROUP, RISA, or CSiBridge.
• Willingness to travel within the continental United States and perform fieldwork under varied conditions.
• Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) is highly regarded.
• Master's degree in civil/structural engineering with a focus on structures from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Active membership in AREMA and/or involvement with Committees 7, 8, 9, 10, or 15.
• Experience working directly with Class I railroads.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $108,000 - $150,000, based on experience and geographic location.
