Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.

As the owner and operator of New Zealand's electricity transmission grid, we provide a critical service, including seeking to understand how the grid can deliver the cost-effective level of service expected by customers, while accommodating the growing demand for renewable electricity through electrification of industry and transport.

About the team

Transpower's Grid Development division works to identify grid needs for the next 30 years. We undertake critical activities to inform investments that ensure the grid is safe, reliable and resilient, and that these investments are integrated with wider system plans.

Our Strategy Performance and Risk group develops our asset management system, including our grid strategies, risk, and resilience information. The team also reports on grid performance, manages asset and system information, and models asset health and criticality.

The Resilience and Adaptation team is responsible for risk and resilience information, frameworks to support resilience and adaptation within the asset management system, leading the implementation of the climate adaptation plan and resilience strategy, and providing risk and resilience reporting.

About the role

As our grid Senior Risk & Resilience Advisor you’ll lead development of risk and resilience information and frameworks to be used across Transpower. This will include building the datasets and systems as well as supporting the business in understanding risk and resilience information and its use in risk-based asset management decisions. You’ll also support and lead grid risk management processes, such as customer site risk reviews, reporting, risk bowties, and maturity assessments and improvement initiatives.

Ultimately, you’ll build Transpower’s information and understanding of risk, resilience and adaptation such that is accessible, fit for purpose, and deliver value in the following ways:

The frameworks, information and reporting support asset and system investment planning, including new builds, upgrades, proactive risk-reduction and readiness planning, and adaptation planning.
Improve capability and understanding of how to use the information provided through collaborative engagement and supporting internal and external stakeholders in risk-based decision-making.
Successful and meaningful climate related disclosures for grid physical risks.
We have a clear view of all risks and control performance across the Grid, and can communicate this within our group, to the Executive, the Board, and our customers and wider stakeholders.
About you

Known for your excellent analytical and communication skills and ability to build relationships, you’ll thrive in a busy role where you can influence and make things happen with both autonomy and direction!

To be shortlisted your CV and cover letter will clearly demonstrate:

Working experience in Asset Management or Risk Management
Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex problems or processes, identify and understand requirements and develop alternatives
Proven ability as a technical facilitator who is able uplift capability
Ability to take the lead on a programme or initiative and operationalise new practices
