Position Purpose and Overview
The Drama and Media Teacher plays a key role in shaping a dynamic and engaging learning environment for students in our Senior School. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning programs in Drama and Media Arts that foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence in students.
The teacher will inspire students to explore and develop their artistic expression while building strong conceptual and technical skills aligned with curriculum requirements. They will contribute to the broader life of the College by supporting co-curricular productions, performances, and media initiatives, and will model Christian values in all interactions, positively contributing to the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of students.
Accountability & Reporting Lines
This position reports directly to the Dean of Faculty, Director of Studies, Head of Senior School and ultimately to the Principal.

Have current QCT Registration
Meet the requirements of the QCT and AITSL Standards
Have experience teaching Drama and Media subjects in a Senior School setting.

Skills & Competencies
Essential
Demonstrated experience teaching Drama and Media Arts at a senior school level.
An understanding of the philosophy of Christian Education and ability to translate it into practice in the classroom, playground, office and staffroom.
Strong communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills.
A demonstrated understanding of current educational trends.
Ability to plan (and regularly evaluate) an interesting, sequential, developmental and enjoyable teaching programs tailored to diverse learners.
Ability to establish and maintain positive and consistent classroom management
Ability to identify and support students with learning difficulties.
A commitment to the Christian ethos, values and mission of the College.
Competency in the use of Microsoft Office products and willingness to become familiar with other software, hardware and technology in common use throughout the College.
Desirable
Proficiency with media production technology (e.g., video editing, audio recording, lighting and sound equipment).
Experience directing school productions or facilitating media-based projects.
Experience in Christian education settings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
Plan, prepare, and deliver effective learning programs in accordance with curriculum requirements for Drama and Media Arts.
Create a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and creativity.
Use a range of teaching strategies, technologies, and assessment tools to support diverse learning needs.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
Integrate Christian worldview principles into teaching and learning where appropriate.
Pastoral Care
Provide oversight and care for the wellbeing of students, recognising and responding to individual needs.
Build rapport with students and foster a supportive learning environment that aligns with the College’s pastoral care framework.
Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers when supporting student wellbeing or learning needs.
Curriculum and Assessment
Develop and review unit plans, assessment tasks, and resources aligned with relevant state curriculum standards.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive and current assessment records to support the process of reporting to parents in written form and verbally, both at designated reporting times and at occasional parent-teacher interviews.
Effectively establish and carry out student assessment and reporting procedures in line with the College’s requirements (including preparation of QCAA submissions).
Participate in moderation, evaluation, and improvement of teaching programs.
Development – Professional and Other
Engage in ongoing professional learning, including developments in Drama, Media Arts, pedagogy, and Christian education.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to share expertise and contribute to faculty goals.
