At least 5 years previous accounting experience
Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC Rules and regulations
Strong ability to draft financial statements and related disclosures
Advanced research and analytical abilities
Strong accounting, financial analysis and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate complex financial reporting issues
Strong Excel skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Proven attention to detail
Strong project management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to use standard office equipment

Responsibilities
Participate in all aspects of the management, coordination, preparation, tie-out and review of the quarterly Form 10-Q and annual 10-K filings with the SEC, as well as filings on Form 8-K and other required SEC filings
Prepare financial statements of affiliates in compliance with US GAAP
Complete GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists to ensure compliance with reporting and disclosure requirements
Complete and review XBRL tagging of financial statements and footnotes
Provide guidance on the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards and incorporate into reporting to ensure new GAAP and SEC reporting requirements are met
Review, research, interpret and provide technical support on accounting issues to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, and SEC regulations
Act as a subject matter resource on certain reporting and accounting issues
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external auditors on quarterly reviews and year-end audits
Work closely with Investor Relations to prepare and review investors and rating agencies presentation slides
Prepares materials for the board of directors’ meetings
Prepares the accounting analysis for new lease transactions

Employment Enterprises, Inc is supporting a client who provides capital and industry-leading financial products to more than 1,000 not-for-profit, consumer-controlled utility systems for rural areas across the United States. We are seeking Senior SEC Accountant to assists with the preparation of our quarterly and annual filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) and other related activities. This position is hybrid in Sterling, Virginia and pays $115,000-$120,000 per year.
Senior SEC Accountant Responsibilities

Senior SEC Accountant Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least 5 years previous accounting experience.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Previous financial institution experience is preferred.
• Experience with Workiva preferred.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC Rules and regulations.
• Strong ability to draft financial statements and related disclosures.
• Advanced research and analytical abilities.
• Strong accounting, financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate complex financial reporting issues.
