Job Description
The position
One of New Zealand’s leading main contractors is in need of a Senior Site Manager with commercial construction or commercial interiors (full fit-out) experience to join their team. There exists the opportunity to become a Project Manager in circa 18 months, after proving your ability on a commercial site. 10+ years experience of working in commercial construction is essential, with at least 6-8 years of that gained in New Zealand for a main contractor. A trades background is desirable, along with a tertiary qualification in a construction related position.
Salary
The salary for this position is dependent on experience, but is in the range of $130-140k with a vehicle and a range other great benefits eg medical insurance and retail discounts.
The person
We would love to hear from Site Managers who have good tenures in their employment history, who have the drive and passion to develop their career. The company has a reputation for successfully delivering complex fit-out and commercial projects up to $20m across the Auckland region. They work on projects in the commercial, healthcare, education and retail sectors. Due to the nature of the work, the employer is only considering candidates who have commercial experience and will not consider those who only have residential experience.
Skills and experience required
Applicants must have the following experience to be considered:
Senior Site Manager experience gained with a 1st or 2nd tier commercial contractor
8-10+ years demonstrable experience of working on commercial construction projects (buildings, not houses, or full fit-out projects).
Ability to monitor and control sub-contractors is key.
Strong personality - equipped to confidently represent your employer across multiple projects
Able to confidently navigate your way around sites and provide technical knowledge to the engineering and building teams.
Excellent communication skills. You must be able to professionally and assertively convey communication to all involved.
As this role is site based you will need to be up to date with your knowledge of OH&S guidelines so as to ensure the safety of all on site
