The Role: IT Monitoring and Observability team plays a critical role in modern software development and engineering area. It is an integral part of the software development life cycle. We are seeking Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the growing Morningstar IT Operations Tools team. In this role, you will have opportunities not only to utilize your coding skills and automation expertise to program and tune IT operations tools but also to provide technical guidance to our development teams regarding IT operations and observability platform. This position is based in our India Mumbai office.
Responsibilities:
• Evaluate, select, and own a wide variety of technologies and tools.
• Establish and advocate for best practices in technical operations.
• Demonstrate implementation of scripts/tasks for application/infrastructure/server monitoring and event management
• Set up and maintain technical operations tools including but not limited to New Relic, Control-M, Victor-ops, Entuity, Splunk, etc.
• Work with multiple software development teams internationally to address issues and improve quality.
Requirements:
• A bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or related fields is required.
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operations systems.
• Programing experience/skills in at least one of the following programing languages: Java, MRL, C++/C, C#, Python, PHP, Ruby, or PowerShell, etc.
• 4+ years of Experience on testing of systems/products with monitoring software, including Integration and System level.
• Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across
functional borders
• Excellent problem solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Passionate about staying on current trends and best practices in IT operations tooling.
• Good to have Knowledge of technical operations tools (New Relic, Splunk, Control-M, Victor-ops, Entuity, etc) is a plus.
• Good to have working knowledge of IT operations practices; ITIL certification a plus.
• Strong self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively with limited guidance when necessary.
• Experience with and/or knowledge of AWS a plus.
