Job Description
The Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) Social Services Applications team is seeking a Senior Snowflake Data Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in designing, optimizing, and maintaining a robust Snowflake environment to meet business needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with data integration, warehousing, governance, and security, along with a strong background in Snowflake architecture and tools.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement data structures utilizing Snowflake features for scalability, security, and performance.
• Optimize data pipelines and workflows for cost-efficiency and performance.
• Develop ETL/ELT processes and integrate Snowflake with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-prem systems.
• Implement robust data security measures, including role-based access control, encryption, and data masking.
• Monitor and troubleshoot Snowflake performance, ensuring query efficiency and system reliability.
• Automate administrative tasks using Snowflake SQL and scripting languages (Python/Shell).
• Configure and manage Snowflake Virtual Warehouses and perform advanced cloning capabilities.
• Design and document data models, workflows, and system integrations.
Minimum Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in data modeling, integration, warehousing, and governance.
• Expertise in Snowflake architecture and components (Databases, Procedures, Tasks, Streams).
• Proven experience in managing Snowflake Virtual Warehouses and implementing RBAC.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake SSO and SCIM integrations for secure access.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Shell for task automation.
• Advanced knowledge of data integration tools like Informatica and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Strong technical writing and diagramming skills (e.g., Visio, Erwin).
• Experience in agile environments and using tools like JIRA.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake code deployment.
• Prior experience in the healthcare industry, especially with HHS agencies.
• Experience working with PII, PHI, HL7 data, or Azure platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
