We are seeking an experienced Senior Scala Developer to join our team at SmarTek21.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Scala and experience in designing, building, and maintaining high-performance applications. They will work closely with product managers, fellow engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.
About the Role:
This is a remote/telecommute position
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure Scala-based applications
Collaborating with product owners to translate requirements into technical solutions
Mentoring junior developers by promoting knowledge sharing and encouraging best coding practices
Optimizing existing services and infrastructure for scalability, security, and performance
Implementing and maintaining testing strategies to ensure high code quality
Diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in production environments
Staying current with emerging Scala libraries, frameworks, and industry trends to continually improve team capabilities
What We're Looking For:
7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3-4 years focusing on Scala
In-depth knowledge of functional programming principles and Scala best practices
Experience with frameworks such as Akka, Play, or Spark
Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and version control (Git)
Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL)
Excellent communication skills and a track record of successful cross-team collaboration
