Job Description
At Vector, we believe innovation is the key to a cleaner, more connected future. By embracing new ideas, forging strong partnerships and pioneering technologies that make energy more resilient and accessible, we’re setting new standards for our customers, and our industry.
In 2020, an alliance was formed between Vector and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to co-develop a cloud native data platform: Diverge. This team has evolved to become Vector Technology Services (VTS); a subsidiary of Vector, New Zealand's largest distributor of electricity and gas.
The role
We're on the look out for our next Senior Software Developer to join us on our new energy future mission.
We welcome applications from:
Experienced Senior Developers seeking a new challenge, with strong progression pathways into either technical or people leadership.
Seasoned Intermediate Developers who are ready to take the next step into a Senior role.
If you’re passionate about innovation and want to help shape the future of energy, we’d love to hear from you.
You’ll learn from and be inspired by our team of software developers and at the same time you will:
Use your advanced software development skills to build software - primarily in Java, but also at times with frontend frameworks like React, and infrastructure automation with Terraform
Grow in your role and in your career, collaborating with leading global partners such as AWS to build valuable software systems for a global customer base
Work in a stable, product-focused agile team and have a voice in what we build, and how we build it
Learn (and teach) how to use TDD, BDD, and automated application deployment for effective software delivery
Gain experience with AWS services like Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, and more.
Who are we looking for?
You’ll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Software development experience: advanced knowledge in Backend programming with Java, Spring, and experience of using tooling and process to ensure quality in the software development life cycle
Cloud computing and AWS Skills – Proficient with AWS services like Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, and more. Understanding how to architect and implement serverless solutions using AWS.
DevOps / CICD - Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD Practises is essential including how to use tools for continuous integration and continuous delivery

A passion for helping and caring for others in your team.
