The Lead Service Now Developer performs complex design, implementation, and maintenance of
multi product modules/sub-systems to ensure that business needs are met. Assists in outlining new
product/service business case justification to ensure that proposed solution is capable of delivering
articulated business benefits to clients. This position participates in product design meetings with
management, other developers and cross-functional technical teams to ensure that product
development adheres to client specifications and is consistent across various units. May select
technology vendors to meet business needs. Participates in determining standards and best
practices within area of product expertise.
Key
Job Responsibilities:
• Develop on the Service Now platform including the creation and/or customization of the core
applications such as Incident, Problem, Change, Service Catalog, Content management and
ESS Portal.
• Perform all aspects of platform administration including configuration, monitoring,
management, tuning, and security of all Service Now instances.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of Angular
JS, JavaScript, Web services (JAX-WS, JAX-RS,
SOAP, and REST), JMS, JSON, Bootstrap, internet protocols (http, https, ftp, etc.), SQL
database/JDBC integrations.
• Troubleshoot production and test issues; perform root cause analysis, recommend
corrective action, and lead the resolution efforts. Configure MID Servers, webservices,
LDAP/SSO integrations, and other relevant technology to integrate tools with Service Now
platform.
• Create, configure, and troubleshoot Service Now Business Rules, Notifications, UI Policies, UI
Actions, UI Pages, Client Scripts, Script Includes, Notifications, User Roles, and ACL's
including advanced scripting in each.
• Coordinate with Service Now support and any implementation partners on new releases and
platform upgrades as necessary to stay compatible and current.
• Support the implementation of updates and features into production.
• Identify automation opportunities and make recommendation for improvements to ITSM
• modules such as Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Asset
• Management, CMDB and Service Catalog Requests.
• Build CMDB data model and populate CMDB using the Service Now Discovery tool
• Assist with regular ITSM Service Now releases which may include system/integration
• testing, UAT and validation.
• Perform and Administer integration of external monitoring tools (e.g. Pager Duty, MS SCCM,
One Login, Google, etc.)
• Analyze requirements and accurately estimate effort of work to design, create and
implement solutions.
• Design and implement process workflows, procedures and technical standards.
• Collaborate with other developers, analysts and stakeholders for requirements development,
ensuring that stakeholders understand the design capabilities and/or limitations, engaging
development staff in the transfer of functional requirements into system design.
• Build "Proof-Of-Concept" solutions to support accurate customer proposals and
implementation plans.
• Collaborate with business to clarify requirements and create test cases.
• Communicate with stakeholders how interfaces will operate, how input forms and output
reports will appear and function, and the details of the security plan to ensure that user
requirements and established guidelines are met.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related area of study
• 7+ years professional experience in Information Technology
• Service Now Administration and Development
• ITIL certification and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes including customer
requirement analysis and system design
