UI (Frontend) Senior Software Engineer
The Team
Morningstar’s structured credit research and ratings subsidiary (DBRS Morningstar) is a Nationally Recognized Statistical Ratings Organization (NRSRO) that has earned a reputation for innovation and excellence in the structured finance market.
This group aims to increase market transparency and provides the highest quality ratings through securities research, monitoring services, data, and technology solutions.
The Role
The UI Software Engineer will work closely with cross functional teams, QA teams and other development teams to ensure a timely and high-quality delivery.
Will have to coordinate and work with the members in a global team in an Agile way. We are looking for an individual that can apply discipline, create solid software products and be accountable for deliverables.
Responsibilities
• Participate in the development with a team of developers with different skill sets.
• Build software enhancements, troubleshoot problems, and correct software defects.
• Maintain quality by establishing and enforcing Morningstar s development standards.
Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or an engineering field; a graduate degree is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 5 to 8 years of prior programming experience.
• Experience in HTML & CSS is mandatory
• Knowledge or experience in CSS pre-processors like SCSS, LESS will be a plus
• Expert knowledge of JavaScript as a first-class language
• Experience in any JavaScript framework such as AngularJS / Angular, VueJS, ReactJS etc will be must
• Experience with node.js, karma.js and / or jasmine.js is preferred for having Unit testing experience. Experience of Test-Driven Development will be plus.
• Experience with Typescript will be advantageous
• Experience in writing object-oriented JavaScript
• Experience with application scaffolding tools, automation & development tools, and dependency management (e.g. npm, gulp) will be an advantage
• Understanding of Continuous Integration (CI) and exposure to tools like Jenkins will be an advantage. Experience of static web hosting on AWS will be plus.
• Drive continuous improvement, delivering initiatives to improve performance, processes and controls to support applications
• Distributed computing, with experience in cloud computing is a plus (Amazon Web Services platform and associated technologies)
• Experience with source code management techniques using Git will be an advantage.
• Should have experience working with team following Agile methodology
• Strong coding and documentation habits are essential, as is the ability to thoroughly consider and make
• thoughtful recommendations on all analysis, design, implementation, and troubleshooting issues.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact in both written and oral English.
• Proven ability to perform in a demanding environment together with a flexible attitude
