The Role
We're expanding an impressive and growing platform that powers hundreds of thousands of websites, millions of containerized resources, billions of monthly page views, and development tools that professional website operations teams use.
Cool Things You'll Do
• You will be part of Pantheon's Engineering Team that will collaborate with product, design, and other groups from across the company and support initiatives to build our platform
• Rapid prototyping and proof of concept implementations of product and platform roadmap
• Work on sophisticated global-scale server applications hosting WordPress and Drupal CMS systems using the latest in Google Cloud platform offerings.
• Design, build, and support services that power our customer platform using containers and cloud-native functions
• Enable beta testers and early adopters on new products and features and resolve any gaps at scale
• Document, support, and transition early iterations of product features to the product and engineering team
• Measure feature performance via, insights, telemetry, and metrics to suggest improvements
• Close collaboration with the wider engineering team to deliver platform improvements
• Be directly involved in continuous improvements to our standard of engineering excellence by implementing best practices, testing, deploying and communication
What you Bring to the Table
• Experience with large-scale, high-traffic platforms and the design of scalable, robust services in the real world
• Ability to contribute to technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions
• Experience with a few of the following areas web applications: Caching, Python, Go, Load balancing, Application monitoring and alerting, Performance tuning, Message Queues, CICD tools (CircleCI)
• Experience or certification in Serverless or Cloud architecture on platforms such as Google Compute Platform (GCP) or equivalent AWS/Azure
• Containerization software such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
• Experience or certification in SQL/NoSQL Cloud storage, BigQuery, and/or CloudSQL
• Proficiency in any one of Go, Python, PHP, Javascript or Rust
• A focus on communication and documentation, able to express your ideas with clarity while remaining open and giving space to the contributions of others
• Helps develop a culture that challenges our team to improve and accelerate over time
• Prioritizes and advocates for end-to-end quality. Helps peers and partners apply quality strategies throughout the lifecycle.
• Independent and organized, knows when to push through and solve their own problem and when to stop and ask for help
• Experience with building, releasing, and maintaining services in production at scale. Emphasizes planning ahead and anticipating needs/challenges running in production.
• Applies pragmatism appropriately. Recognizes the right balance of ideal design/outcomes and the realities of building software and makes deliberate choices weighing the two.
• You have 4+ years software development experience
