We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about developing elegant and impactful software applications that empower our users with data, knowledge, and visualisation tools through our Compass: Engine platform to aid Net Zero and Climate Resilience and Adaptation decision-making.
In this role, you will lead the development of impactful product features, drive user-centric design and innovation, and play a key role in shaping the future of our products. Your focus will be working with users to understand their needs and design functional and effective solutions to ensure that our products deliver exceptional value and meet our high-quality standards. You will have the autonomy and responsibility to drive innovation initiatives with dedicated time to research, testing and development of AI, ML and data visualisation innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Technical Knowledge: Lead the design and implementation of features, applications and the sophisticated data processing and visualisation required to deliver insight and value to our users. Take technical ownership in one or more areas of our tech stack and help your team mates solve complex problems.
• Project Contribution: Play a significant role in major projects, ensuring high quality, timely delivery, and alignment with user requirements. Collaborate with users to understand their needs and guide the evolution of our applications.
• Innovation and Technology: Drive technological innovation by proposing and implementing new solutions. Experiment with emerging technologies and demonstrate a track record of delivering impactful innovations to users.

Essential:
• You’ve successfully delivered custom software applications and features by partnering closely with users to understand their needs.
• Strong knowledge of distributed micro services, modern frontend frameworks and cloud providers.
• Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering high-quality solutions.
• Strong mentoring skills with experience in guiding and developing other engineers.
• Effective communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable:
• Experience with data science (AI/ML) and simulation technologies.
• Experience in our tech stack: Python, Neo4J, AWS, Vue, MapLibre.
• Previous experience in a senior role within a technology-focused company.
• Knowledge of advanced software architecture patterns and practices.
• Familiarity with user-centered design principles and practices.
