The Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) team is at the forefront of building world-class container orchestration and management solutions for the cloud and beyond. We power Azure’s container platform across both Linux and Windows, enabling customers to run scalable, resilient applications with confidence.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation of cloud-native infrastructure. You’ll work on complex distributed systems, contribute to open-source and proprietary technologies, and help drive innovation across the Kubernetes ecosystem on Azure. Responsibilities
Advance the capabilities of Kubernetes and auxiliary components on Azure
Improve quality of service for Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service
Accelerate development velocity for all engineers.
Balance pragmatism with vision; deliver continuous improvements to the team’s process and codebase.
Build automation to prevent and/or remediate service problems from becoming production incidents.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#,
OR Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
At least 5 years of experience in commercial software development.
1+ year(s) experience in building, shipping and operating reliable, distributed solutions.
1+ year(s) experience engaging in site-reliability engineering practices.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Golang OR Python
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
1+ year(s) experience with workload/container orchestration using Kubernetes or similar platforms.
1+ year(s) experience in Linux.
