Description
Candidate responsible for providing development and implementation support (capability enhancement etc) for the various Netcool component systems. These include Omnibus, probes, WebGUI, Jazz,Impact , ITM, Cognos / BI reporting, ITNM, Netcool Operation Insight (NOI)
Responsibilities
• The individual will apply an organizational wide set of disciplines for the planning , analysis, design and implementation of customer business requirements on enterprise – wide basis.
• They will be responsible for assisting with the integration of other MNS, devices(switches, routers, load balancers, firewall etc) and external ticketing systems.
• The individual will prepare and submit change requests, implementation plan, test plan, user guides, training guides and other required documentation in support of capabilities for the Netcool systems.
• Create and provide recurring and ad-hoc reports of various network statics.
• Previous direct support working with current Tivoli Netcool tools including configuration, installation, implementation and troubleshooting issues with Netcool V7 + on an enterprise class network.
• Collaborate with and brief various internal departments to assess near and long term Netcool architecture and capacity needs and recommend appropriate solution to new problems.
• Ability to work with business to identify rules and correlations opportunities to enhance the user experience when using Netcool to monitor alarms.
• Create and maintain the Tivoli Netcool documentation as it relates to testing, reporting, process, and service records.
• Design and assist with deploying Netcool and appropriate ruleset on LANs, WANs and other related network infrastructure supporting network services.
• Conduct research on improved network product, services, protocols and standard to remain abreast of developments with the product as well as implement new and existing equipment ,hardware and software standards and systems upgrades.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer science or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 5 years direct, substantive knowledge and experience with the design, installation, maintenance , development of the Tivoli Netcool Fault Management ( TNFM) solution.
• Linux /Unix systems Administration (RHEL, CentOS, FreeBSD)
• Programming/scripting (PHP, Python, Shell Scripting , Pers, Java/JavaScript)
• Networking (CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS) – Optional
• Database administration (MySQL, Oracle, DB2)
• IBM Certifications.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to interact professionally with executives, customers, vendors, and department staff.
• Excellent analytical, organizational , time management and problem solving skills are essential.
• Telco / Network Operation center experience desired.
• Previous consulting and /or project management experience preferred
