Job Description
The Productivity Engineering Group at Arm is tasked with providing colleagues across all of Arm's Engineering population with infrastructure that they need to undertake the huge variety of work that the company does. We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Software Engineer to join our globally distributed team based in either Cambridge or Manchester.
We combine people, technology and domain specific knowledge to craft tools, services and infrastructure which improves the efficiency of Arm’s engineers. It gets complex at times, and we often learn through experimentation, but there are many chances to create a real difference for people who take pride in, and enjoy, developing these services and systems.
Responsibilities:
You will have a chance to contribute to the infrastructure and automation Arm uses to squeeze every last drop of value out of its hardware acceleration platforms (hardware emulators, FPGAs and dev boards). Don't worry if you're not very familiar with these technologies though, there'll be plenty of opportunity to learn on the job!
Our work is varied and is usually made up of a mixture of development, user enablement, service operations and vendor interactions. Development activities range from small incremental improvements and bug fixes to multi-month strategic scale projects. In all of our activities we usually spend a large amount of time interacting with the other engineering teams in Arm.
This is a multi-faceted role, with lots of scope to branch out and learn new skills and technologies.
Required Skills and Experience :
Familiarity working with Linux and source control systems
Professional experience delivering products using compiled programming languages such as Go, C, C++ or Java
Experience with interpreted languages like Javascript, Python, Ruby or Perl
A strong working knowledge of SOLID design principles and their application
Experience working with SQL or NOSQL databases
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :
Knowledge of constraint optimisation problems and associated methods/algorithms
Experience working with web technologies and frameworks
HTTP API design and implementation (RESTful or otherwise)
Experience working with high performance compute infrastructure and schedulers (LSF/Slurm/OpenLava etc)
Experience with Hashicorp’s software stack (especially Consul or Vault)
Experience in the EDA industry, in particular with emulation or FPGA prototyping platforms
In Return:
With offices around the world, Arm is a diverse organisation of dedicated, innovative and hardworking professionals. By enabling a vibrant, inclusive, meritocratic, and open workplace, all our people can grow and succeed while contributing to Arm's success. The more we can grow as a team, the more we will achieve.
We offer a hybrid approach to home and office working to provide an adaptable experience for all employees. We expect some working time to be spent in office, to promote a strong collaborative environment with good team integration but are accommodating to different home working requirements.
On top of this, we offer an excellent benefits package including salary, competitive bonus, and healthcare support!
We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.
