Senior Software Engineer, DevOps - Vice President

Job Description

Job description
Team Overview

XiP is building a next-generation cross-asset calculation system for Citi trading desks and enterprise users in the largest global financial markets and exchanges in New York, London, and other major financial hubs.

Our team owns multiple Java Spring Boot Services that execute, partition, and track quantitative risk graphs/trades in a distributed environment. These graphs can fail due to their complexity and our system must adapt quickly to these failures to provide a seamless experience for clients.

XiP Compute Services are deployed onto OpenShift and Amazon’s Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS). An important initiative in 2026 will be onboarding Google’s Kubernetes Engine to further expand our coverage. Our system scales on-demand, and we can run up to tens of thousands of replicas of our services across all asset classes.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to fill the role of ‘Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst’ on the XiNG large scale distributed calculation platform (XiP).

In this role you will design, build, and maintain deployment systems and cloud infrastructure for our large-scale distributed systems. You will work closely with software engineers, DevOps, and vendors to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable delivery of our platform.

Responsibilities:
• Build cloud infrastructure in our new GCP environments:

The GCP environment is a new Greenfield project to build a complete replica of the XiP platform in GCP to fulfill resilience, scalability, and business continuity requirements.

Your role will be to architect, provision, and manage scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure in GCP.
• Build cloud infrastructure in our AWS environments:

Continue to build, evolve and maintain our extremely large-scale parallel compute environment in AWS.

Your role will be to implement best practices for storage, compute, and security. Continuously monitor and optimize resource usage, and ensure infrastructure meets the needs of distributed risk calculation workloads.
• Serve as advisor or coach to team members, allocating and overseeing work:

Mentor and guide mid-level developers, providing technical advice, code reviews, and career development support. Allocate tasks based on skill sets and project priorities, ensuring balanced workloads and timely delivery. Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment, encouraging best practices and continuous learning.
• Collaborate with internal and external vendors to ensure new technologies are introduced according to business requirements:

Work closely with software development and central technology teams to evaluate, select, and integrate new technologies and tools. Ensure that technology adoption aligns with business goals, compliance standards, and operational requirements. Participate in architecture reviews, proof-of-concept initiatives, and provide feedback on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Automate the processes of building and deploying the XiP platform:

Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to streamline the build, test, and deployment workflows for risk calculation applications. Continuously improve pipeline efficiency, reliability, and security, and integrate automated quality gates and rollback mechanisms.
• Operationally support XiP infrastructure:

Maintain and monitor the health, performance, and security of the XiP platform. Perform regular maintenance, upgrades, and patching. Respond to operational incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures. Document operational procedures and provide training and guidance to other team members as needed.
• Operationally support XiP customers with provided solutions (both in terms of the application and infrastructure):

Provide hands-on support to XiP clients, addressing issues related to both application functionality and underlying infrastructure. Monitor system health, respond to incidents, and proactively resolve performance bottlenecks or outages. Deliver timely troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution, while maintaining clear communication with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications:
• Multiple years of relevant experience in Apps Development or systems analysis role
• Extensive experience building cloud infrastructure in a common public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc).
• Background of delivering successful large scale infrastructure projects.
• Ability to manage and deliver projects while handling competing priorities.
• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Master’s degree preferred
