Senior Software Engineer - Java/Spring Big Data Tooling

As a Senior Software Engineer (SSE) in Data Platform and Engineering Services, you'll have the opportunity to construct high-performance data pipelines that feed into Mastercard's Data Warehouse. This warehouse equips numerous business users to address diverse customer challenges using data-driven insights. In this dynamic environment, you'll play a pivotal role, collaborating with experienced engineers to tackle intricate problems.

• Primary Responsibilities:

Your key responsibilities encompass the design, development, and maintenance of software applications using Java and associated technologies. In-depth familiarity with Java, API, Spring boot and SQL will contribute to your success. Preferred skills include ETL, Big Data, DWH

• Additional Expertise:

As an SSE with full-stack Java development experience, you should also possess the following skills:

- A grasp of software design patterns and industry best practices

- Experience in full-stack Java development

- Proficiency in Spring Boot for building robust and scalable applications, Leverage Spring Boot's microservices architecture to optimize scalability and performance.

- Proficiency utilize Spring Boot's features to enhance application development, deployment, and maintenance.

- Experience developing tools/frameworks employing big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka - which Data Engineering team could employ to do development at scale and rapid deployment.

- Adeptness in Data Engineering and implementing end-to-end DW projects within a Big Data ecosystem

- Proficiency in database technologies encompassing SQL and NoSQL

- Practical exposure to RESTful web services and API design

- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

- Strong analytical prowess for diagnosing production issues and instituting mitigation strategies

- Effective communication skills - both written and verbal - underscored by a capacity for collaboration, relationship-building, and organizational excellence

- Ability to multitask across multiple projects, interface with internal and external stakeholders, and provide technical mentorship to junior team members

- Proactive, detail-oriented, and resourceful with the ability to thrive in a high-pressure, independent environment

- Agility in swiftly adopting and implementing novel technologies, along with a flair for conducting Proof of Concepts (POCs) to address problem statements

- Flexibility to contribute effectively within diverse, geographically dispersed, matrix-based project teams

- Familiarity with big data tooling adds to your effectiveness in this role.

- Familiarity with Oracle and Netezza databases, coupled with robust SQL knowledge

- Competence in Unix environments

- Exposure to Nifi, a valuable asset
