The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53,000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.

You’ll be part of Secure Money Movement Crew which sit in the Customer Engagement and Digital Domain. This crew responsible for designing and building intelligent solutions and feature for our Netbank and CommBank Apps. Our mission is to deliver best-in-class digital experiences for moving money, while safeguarding our customers from the ever-evolving landscape of fraud and scams.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about building impactful products, thrives in a Product Operating Model, and is eager to take full ownership of solving real user problems. You will join a cross-functional, empowered team, working side-by-side with a Product Owner/Manager and Designer to form the core product trio. Your role goes beyond coding: you will contribute to ideation, design, implementation, testing, release, and ongoing improvement of our products.

We value a “product engineer” mindset—where you care as much about the product’s success and user experience as you do about code. We expect you to be a clear communicator who collaborates proactively with peers and stakeholders, and to demonstrate technical leadership within and beyond the team.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

Possesses full-cycle engineering experience: ideation, technical design, build, testing (unit, integration, system), release, and ongoing maintenance.

Partners as part of a “core trio” (Product, Design, Engineering) to deeply understand business and user problems, and co-create solutions.

Leads technical design, architecture, and implementation for new and existing features, providing thought leadership and influencing technology direction across the team.

Proven ability to provide technical thought leadership: influencing engineering culture, evaluating and introducing new technologies, guiding team direction, mentors and supports other engineers

Are quality-focused and take pride in delivering well-tested, robust, and maintainable software. Also, comfortable owning testing responsibilities as there is no separate QA.

Embraces change and ambiguity, taking initiative in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Have experimental and E2E ownership mindset, deliver with minimum supervision.

Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

Solid experience with Next.js, Typescript, Node.js, C#, .NET Core, .NET Framework, React.js,

Expertise with Microservices, Restful API design pattern, Solution design

Working knowledge of public cloud engineering - AWS preferred

Understanding of DevOps, CI-CD pipeline - TeamCity, Octopus, GitHub Actions

Logging & monitoring - Open Telemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Observe, CloudWatch

Security - Vault, SSL Certificates, OWASP

Automation Testing - Unit Testing, Regression Testing, NFT Testing

Any experience with the following would be great - Event driven development
