The Role:

We are looking for a senior NewStore OMS Developer to join our team and take ownership of a critical middleware integration connecting NewStore OMS/POS with Shopify. You will be responsible for auditing an existing middleware layer, stabilizing it, and evolving it from reactive bug fixing into a scalable, feature-driven integration.

The ideal candidate brings direct, hands-on NewStore OMS integration experience and can ramp up quickly on an inherited codebase with minimal guidance.

Please Note: This is a Contract position (hourly rate). We welcome applications from across the globe, but our preferred candidates should be able to work in Eastern Standard Timezone (EST).

Responsibilities:

Lead audit/discovery of an existing Newstore OMS Shopify integration and middleware (architecture, data flows, failure modes).

Take full ownership of middleware maintenance, shifting focus from reactive bug fixing to proactive feature delivery

Develop, test, and deploy enhancements to the OMS–Shopify integration layer

Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues between NewStore OMS and Shopify

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, delivery managers, stakeholders) to clarify requirements, prioritize fixes, and ship improvements.

Provide technical input on platform integration decisions and evolving requirements

Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of integration practices

Document integration logic, data flows, and system changes throughout the engagement

Requirements:

Hands-on experience integrating Newstore, ideally with a focus on Newstore OMS

Senior-level experience owning production integrations and debugging complex systems under real-world constraints.

Proven ability to perform technical audits and ramp quickly in partially documented or “black box” environments.

Strong API/integration fundamentals (REST, webhooks/event-driven patterns, async processing, data consistency, reconciliation workflows).

Strong software engineering fundamentals (system design, data modeling, testing strategies).

Strong written and verbal communication skills for async, cross-functional collaboration

Ability to work with meaningful overlap in Eastern Time (ET/EST) hours.

Nice to Have:

The following would be bonus experience to have, though highlight any additional experience or skills you may have. We like working with people with varied backgrounds and experiences.

Experience with Shopify (Plus) APIs and the broader Shopify ecosystem

Familiarity with Shopify POS and OMS/POS migration patterns

Retail / omnichannel domain familiarity (order lifecycle, inventory, fulfillment, returns).

Experience improving observability and ops maturity (logging/metrics/tracing, alerting, incident workflows).

Prior experience in an agency/consulting environment, especially taking over or remediating existing integrations.
