Senior Solicitor, Litigation and External Review

Salary: $10+,730 - $132,764 (Plus Superannuation)
Up to 2 years Fixed term
Usual hours of work: Full time or Part time
Usual work location: Melbourne (CBD) or flexible within Victoria
The Role
The Litigation and External Review Team is responsible for managing a broad range of disputes, litigation and external review matters on behalf of the department, including commercial disputes, negligence claims and judicial review proceedings. The Litigation and External Review Team also plays a critical role in supporting the department's response to public inquiries and inquests. The Senior Solicitor is responsible for providing specialist legal services and efficiently managing litigation files, as well as briefing counsel and external solicitors where necessary.

The key accountabilities for the role are:
Manage litigation and external review matters
Provide authoritative and strategic advice on complex and sensitive litigation and disputes matters
Manage the delivery of legal services
Work closely and collaboratively with others
Contribute to the development of the Litigation and External Review Team
The Team
The position of Senior Solicitor, Litigation and External Review forms a part of the Corporate Services Group and Legal and Legislation Branch. This Branch is a centralised provider of legal services to the Department. It supports the Department's strategic priorities by partnering with our client areas and delivering quality legal advice, dispute management, legislation development and commercial legal services.
About You
You will be required to demonstrate the following skills, experience and personal attributes:

Detailed knowledge and demonstrated experience in running litigation and/or external review matters
Experience drafting and reviewing a wide range of legal documentation particularly in the litigation context
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and authoritative advice on legal issues arising from litigation or more generally
Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and key stakeholders
Ability to work constructively and effectively, manage competing priorities, and working within with tight timelines
