Job Description
We're looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our team in Auckland. In addition to building reliable systems and easy-to-use interfaces with clean, well-tested code, you will also collaborate closely with peers in technical discussions, code reviews, and architecture decisions, helping to elevate our engineering culture and set a high bar for quality and scalability.
To thrive in this role, you'll bring strong technical knowledge, a quick ability to learn new technologies, and sharp problem-solving skills. You'll be an excellent communicator who works well with stakeholders, collaborates effectively across teams, and supports others through mentorship.
What you'll be doing:
30% - Building stuff: This means coding, code reviews, fixing bugs (i.e. tackling the hard debugging), peer programming, incident response, and reverse-engineering tasks, etc.
30% - Planning/architecture: This means estimating, collaborating with products, establishing MVP
30% - Learning and teaching: This means things like chapter reviews, research and meetups, coaching and mentoring developers to "level up" and become more proficient over time
10% - Enabling: This means things like working on shared libraries, contributing to open source content, defining, documenting and evolving best practices for development in their team's area of focus
