My client, a global household name, is seeking a Senior Systems Manager to deploy and maintain their infrastructure, operating systems & applications.
My client is seeking a Senior Systems Manager who will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and applications that power their cutting-edge services. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of the platform, while also driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a Full Time, Perm role with Flexible Working Arrangements. There is the option to work in the office two days a week, and work from home the other three. In terms of location, there is a choice of two offices in Sydney (one is in the CBD), depending on what's easier/preferred/where you are based.
The Salary is up to $150,000 + Super + Bonus.
You will become an integral part of the team, working across multiple platforms and environments and continuing to develop and build upon their standards, patterns, and frameworks for secure, high performing, resilient infrastructure, applications and services. You’ll be working with a range of stakeholders and engineering peers on various projects and initiatives, ensuring quality deliveries.
The successful candidate will have a strong set of technical capabilities including deploying and maintaining infrastructure, operating systems and applications, platform and application integration. You will assist with the development of technical solutions utilising best practices and automation of engineering tasks and functions, observability, integration patterns, and participate in building a team culture of good architecture, driving best practice operational excellence.
Being energetic, open minded and willing to learn, paired with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in achieving success in this position.
Key Requirements
10+ years of IT platform and systems administration and management in enterprise environments
Proven experience managing a small team focused on infrastructure and systems environments
Extensive expertise in design, documentation, and provision of infrastructure, applications and supporting services in both physical and virtualised environments
Build, configure and deploy a hypervisor infrastructure such as VMWare/ESXi, Proxmox or equivalent and hands on experience with deploying and maintaining virtual infrastructure and applications
Strong experience with Linux OS, Windows Server OS and services
Solid scripting experience using Bash and PowerShell, and orchestration tools like Ansible and CI/CD pipelines to maintain and improve consistency with environment and application stacks
Knowledge of databases such as MSSQL, Oracle or PostgresSQL
Solid understanding of core networking fundamentals and principles such as OSI model, routing and switching protocols, IP Addressing, subnetting, VLANs, Firewalls
Analytic mind with troubleshooting and problem-solving technical issues, identify root cause and develop effective solutions
Ability to drive outcomes and extract information from project teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Acting as a subject matter expert for other colleagues
Ability to work as part of a global team from multiple countries and time zones
Ability to work both unsupervised/independently and as part of a team
Highly Desirable Experience
Experience with implementing and managing AWS cloud infrastructure and services
Experience with deploying and managing HAProxy
Experience with working in large and complex environments spanning multiple regions
Agile delivery and teamwork experience
Experience deploying and managing Microsoft Active Directory
A sound working knowledge of hardware platforms including DELL, HP or equivalent vendors
Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, VMWare VCP-DCV, VMWare VPC-NV, etc) a plus
Experience working within the broadcasting industry is also a plus
