Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in tax accounting and corporate finance, with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and financial reporting. This role requires a proactive approach to managing tax obligations, ensuring adherence to GAAP standards, and providing strategic financial insights that contribute to the overall success of our organization.
Duties
Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Conduct thorough audits of financial statements and tax documents to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
Provide expertise in estate planning, wills, trusts, and estate law to assist clients in optimizing their financial strategies.
Collaborate with clients on mergers & acquisitions, providing tax implications analysis and strategic advice.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and Quicken for efficient financial reporting and analysis.
Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable.
Analyze financial concepts related to investment strategies, asset management, and private equity.
Prepare regulatory reports while ensuring compliance with SOX regulations.
Contribute to budgeting processes through detailed financial analysis and forecasting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred.
Proven experience in public accounting with a focus on tax accounting; minimum of 5 years in a similar role is desirable.
Experience in the real estate or property management industry is a plus
Strong understanding of GAAP principles, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting practices.
Proficiency in financial report writing and interpretation; ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
Familiarity with LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations is a plus.
Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail; ability to conduct thorough account analysis.
Experience in non-profit accounting is advantageous but not required.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively within deadlines.
Demonstrated proficiency in various financial software applications; experience with payroll processing is beneficial.
