What You'll Do
We are looking for performance engineering expert for SAAS applications to join our globally distributed Document Exchange Service team and assist us to become a global leader in the e-invoicing and e-docs market, and part of every transaction in the world! This is an individual contributor role who will report to Senior Engineering Manager.
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
Avalara e-Invoicing and DES Platforms: Dig into our multi-patented, cloud-native Avalara product suite. We are building a flexible, platform that can handle any opportunity to create and submit electronic invoices, e-docs and live reporting processes for any industry in any geography. Work with your team to create that while maximizing performance, scalability, and reliability while making it 'oh-so-simple' to operate.
Design With The Vision In Mind: You know how to take requirements and create PSR (Performance-Scalability-Relaibilty) strategy, plans and automation. Collaborate with Architects, Development, DevOps, Product owners, Infrastructure teams regarding performance engineering, design, and testing.
Create Industry-Leading Products: Avalara is the market leader, and we intend on staying that way. That means we can't be complacent. Own key areas within our platform. And as owners, we encourage everyone to make >
Provide Technical guidance and mentoring the performance engineers in the team, providing guidance on PSR Processes and automation.

What You'll Need To Be Successful
You have experience delivering valuable, features into production.
You know what's fundamentally different about software designed for the cloud from on-premise, not because you read about it but because you've been knee-deep in SaaS.
Expertise in application performance engineering and performance tuning with hands on experience designing and implementing load, stress, spike, scalabilty, volume, endurance, and soak testing. Expertise on multiple tools like Load Runner, JMeter, Gatling, K6, Neoload, NewRelic, DynaTrace, AppDynamics and similar tools.
Good experience analysing Thread dumps, Heap dump and GC logs and performance tuning and providing recommendations to the development teams.
Software development experience - While many parts of our solution are implemented using .NET and Java , we also have details of the product in node.js, python, and other technologies.
As far as other technologies, we use PostgresDB, MySQL as our primary transactional RDBMS, and we are introducing many other cloud technologies Redis, Snowflake, and Prometheus. Streaming technologies like Kafka, Kinesis, and visualization tools like Grafana are in the conversation. And containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes. We are an AWS shop. A background in Azure or GCP is also welcomed.
