In Australia we own and manage the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, and the Tropicana Gold Mine (70% AGA owned 30% Regis Resources). These are two of Western Australia’s premier gold operations, with ongoing investment and exploration taking place across both open pit and underground operations at each site.
Your Opportunity
In this Senior Technician – Geological Services role, you’ll be guiding a tight-knit team of Geology Technicians, ensuring safety and production targets are more than just numbers on a board. When things run smoothly, you’ll know it’s because of your guidance.
You’ll spend 85% of your time out where the real action happens, side by side with your team in the field. The other 15%? You’ll take the lead in pre-start meetings and keep things running smoothly with accurate data entry for drill hole and sample info.
You’ll report to the Supervisor – Geological Services and you’ll be based at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8/6 FIFO roster. Direct flights operate from Perth and Kalgoorlie.
Your Responsibilities:
Lead and roster Geology Technicians to meet daily and weekly safety and production targets
Coach and mentor Geology Technicians to build a capable, compliant team that consistently delivers on targets
Work with the Supervisor: Geological Services and the Exploration Geologists to safely manage the workflow of the core yard daily to achieve maximum throughput
Undertake daily quality assurance and quality control checks on tasks being undertaken to ensure industry best practice and to identify where training gaps exist.
Undertake daily safety checks and safety interactions with team members to promote a safe working culture, aligned to AGA’s value of Safety First.
Support continual improvement of processes and implementation of safety initiatives on site.
Process diamond core including core mark-up, photography, SG, mag-sus, cutting & sampling (this forms a large portion of the role).
Process RC samples, including sample reconciliation and dispatch.
Ore mark up, Blast Ball monitoring install and pick up and spotting for open pit mining.
Store, archive and catalogue sample pulps, residues, drill core and miscellaneous samples.
Operate computers including data entry of drill hole and sample information.
Control stock levels and raise maintenance requests with SAP.
Chair prestart meetings, encouraging active team participation and participate in incident investigations.
Relief departmental Supervisor, as and when required.
Organise and carry out batch sampling on the crusher circuit
About You

Proficient with processing diamond drill core and RC drill samples.
Experience working in an open pit
Current manual C class WA driver’s licence
Ability to liaise with contractors, site departments and other key stakeholders is essential.
Experience undertaking drill site prep and rehabilitation is desirable.
Software skills: Microsoft Office suite is essential. Exposure to GeoBank, Datashed, SDO creation, GPS usage and SAP systems is highly regarded.
Forklift licence required; HR licence, loader and backhoe tickets are highly desirable
