As our new Senior Web Developer at Project Timber, you will work on developing new websites and on enhancing our existing Web properties. You get to work closely with our creative directors, project managers, strategists and other design team members. You get to work alongside the head of e-commerce with 20 years in web experience, launching new ideas and solutions.develop specifications and make adjustments regarding using new and emerging Web technologies, rolling them out into digital solutions and the rest of the website team.You’ll report to the Head of E-commerce and will be responsible for the coding, innovative design and layout of our website, which will include the following:
• Write well-designed, testable, efficient code by using the best software development practices
• Develop needed features, fast.
• Management of payment gateways
• API Management & implementation of our external services
• Create website layout/user interface by using WordPress and PHP solutions
• SEO impact and understanding of duplicate content issues.
• Code workflow management
• Debugging of complex issues
• Server monitoring
• Discovery of weak points in current code and implementing fix / tidy up.
• Extensive CSS understanding + Compatibility
• Extensive Cache understanding - Front end & Server side with plugins like WP-Rocket.
• Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
• Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
• Create and maintain software documentation
• Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling our site, implementing new ideas and technologies.
• Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them to operations and activities.
• Develop and/or manage the development of new website projects within the group.Essential
• Minimum 4 Years experience in PHP Development
• Knowledge of Wordpress and Advanced Woo Commerce
• 3+ years of UI/UX experience.
• Good understanding of Object Oriented PHP
• Experience with HTML/CSS
• Familiarity with multiple HTML frameworks, strong JavaScript jQuery skills
• A strong visual and technical portfolio.
• Experience with frontend JavaScript and JS frameworks
• Understanding and experience working with MySQL
• Knowledge of browser compatibility across multiple platforms and devices.
• Strong ability to design with accessibility in mind.
• Good understanding of APIs and creation of custom APIs
• Good written communication skills/ability to document work/comment code
• Awareness of security best practices
• Excellent verbal and written English skills
• Excellent team leadership skills.
