Senior Youth Worker

As a Senior Youth Worker, you will work with vulnerable young people that enter the youth justice system. You will provide supervision and support to young people who are subject to a youth justice intervention and support the Senior Project Officer and other staff in delivering criminogenic offence focused programs with the aim of reducing re-offending.

It is a genuine requirement of the position that you are able work outside normal business hours inclusive of weekend work and have the capacity to be flexible in your work hours to meet emergent needs on an ‘as needs' basis. Work hours will be negotiated with your direct line supervisor and the Manager of the Service Centre.

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Youth Worker, you will specifically:

Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 201+ and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Provide assistance to the Senior Project Officer in ensuring the delivery of highquality service in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, statutory delegations, departmental policies, procedures and contemporary best practice.

Deliver support and intervention services to young people subject to a youth justice intervention, their families and communities in accordance with legislative, policy and procedural requirements.

Develop weekly work rosters, matching young people subject to youth justice orders, with appropriate youth workers.

Negotiate with other Government and community agencies, on behalf of young people, to enhance their access to services in accordance with the case plan.

Conduct regular audits of Workplace Health and Safety issues in relation to agencies. Ensure that safety equipment is available, and all equipment used in conjunction with the Community Service Order Program is safe to operate.

Provide supervision and support to young people to assist with their compliance with court orders and reintegration into the community in accordance with the case plan.

Maintain records of program attendance and prepare reports to assist case planning and reviews, and attend these meetings as required.

Participate productively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team involving a range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to achieve quality casework outcomes.
