Job Description
The candidate must be willing to relocate for the summer (housing and meals provided), must have a previous serving experience, be a minimum of 19 years of age, and must possess knowledge of Ontario Liquor Laws and Regulations.
Smart Serve or equivalent certification is required.
This position runs from May until October and besides your weekly day off, no time off can be taken during the duration of the position.
WE ARE SEEKING:
Servers / Bartenders at our drive-in mainland location Totem Lodge/ Yellowbird Lodge resort locations.
Servers / Bartenders at our remote, boat-access only Wiley Point Lodge resort location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Server / Bartender include but are not limited to the following:
Take and prepare beverage orders from tables and bar patrons
Adhere to all liquor and serving regulations
Maintain accurate guest and staff charge accounts
Collect and process cash, debit and credit card payments
Serve guests according to establishment needs
Cleaning tables and work station
Stocking work stations and bar
Perform daily opening and/or closing procedures including proper day end P.O.S. and credit/debit terminal reads and close-outs
Assist other staff when required
Be willing to help in other departments
Key Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge of serving priorities and practices
- 2 years serving experience (Required)
- Ability to carry a tray
- Exceptional understanding of basic and common drink recipes as well as creative and innovative flair to develop new drinks (An asset)
- Self-motivated
- Ability to assess customer needs and preferences and make recommendations
- Solid knowledge in wine – able to make pairings with meals, make recommendations (An asset)
- Personable, able to interact with guests and staff in a professional manner
- Ability to multi task in a fast paced environment
- Previous experience with cash, debit, charge accounts (required)
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs, stand for 8+ hours at a time
- Maintains a professional appearance at all times

We are seeking qualified candidates with previous experience as servers / bartenders from a reputable previous business
Please note that days off will be strictly based on guests/ customer counts at the resort and their check in/ check out days. Certain days off cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to change at a moment’s notice based on management’s discretion.
If applying with other candidates, please be aware that days off and shifts together are highly unlikely, as are breaks and other scheduled times off.
This roll is a 6 days on/ 1 day off per week job. If seeking 2 days off per week, we ask candidates not to apply.
We are seeking candidates with no prior commitments for the entire length of the contract/ summer season. We require only individuals are able to commit to the length of our season and who are interested in living and being on the lake/ on-site during this entire time period.
Totem Resorts and all resort locations are based in very remote locations and have limited access to city amenities. Please research our location and please be fully committed to moving out to our location.
This is a high pressure, fast past, busy work environment offering high rewards for long hours and hard work in trade of USD tips/ currency- which trades traditionally at 30% towards the Canadian dollar as we deal in 80% USA clientele (meaning high opportunity for fantastic tips!)
