About the JobWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced FTTH (FIBER TO THE HOME) Service Drop Technician to be an important part of our team and provide fiber internet installation and maintenance services to our customers. As a Drop Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing the "drop" or final connection of cable and internet services to residential or business customers. You will ensure quality service delivery and troubleshoot issues related to cable drops and connections. You will operate in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment and excel in hitting the Company’s objectives.
Responsibilities
• Understand Cityside Fiber’s core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do.
• Work in and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and integrity.
• Pathway Planning and Design; Install fiber internet service to the exterior of residential homes, including routing fiber optic cables, considering landscaping, existing structures, and marked utilities.
• Landscaping and Property Preservation including concrete sidewalk and driveway boring.
• Trenching and Excavation in Sensitive Areas, Equipment Operation and Maintenance.
• Install and activate drop cables from distribution points to customer premises.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to drop cables, connectors, and signal levels.
• Test and verify drop connections to ensure optimal performance and quality.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company standards during installations and repairs.
• Coordinate with supervisors and dispatch to schedule and prioritize work orders.
• Communicate with customers to schedule installations, answer questions, and provide updates on the status of their installation.
• Document all installations and maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures.
Qualifications
• High energy individual who is willing to be an integral part of a high growth service provider who puts people first, dares to be different and has fun disrupting an industry.
• Experience in telecommunications industry; fiber optics installation and residential property pathways preferred.
• Experience with drop bury aerial and underground installation of telecom infrastructure.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus.
• 2+ years’ experience as a drop technician.
• Proven history of excellent customer service in the field and timely, effective, clean installations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in the field.
• Ability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Familiarity with standard safety protocols and procedures, and a commitment to working safely in the field.
• Valid state driver’s license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.
Location
Our Headquarters and field offices are located in Irvine, CA. Travel required to local project/customer sites.
Compensation
Starting at $23 per hour (actual starting rate may be higher based on candidate’s qualifications, skills and years of experience.)
