Service Performance Manager

💰 $3,800 - $6,080 (Est.) 📍 Christchurch

Job Description

Full job description
Drive continuous improvement from outsourced service providers
Work internally and externally to ensure great outcomes are achieved safely
Collaborate with project and maintenance delivery teams and across Transpower
Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.

Transpower owns and operates New Zealand's National Grid - the unique High Voltage transmission network connecting areas of generation with towns and cities across New Zealand. The national grid is connected by HVDC between our two main islands with a large amount of renewable energy generated in the South and a growing load requirement in the North.

About the team

The Grid Delivery division is accountable for the delivery of all work across New Zealand's transmission network. This includes project and maintenance work, delivered in conjunction with our service provider organisations.

Our Regional Service Delivery teams are the custodians of the grid service that is delivered to our customers.

About the opportunity

You’ll join our South Island Service Delivery team responsible for ensuring that Transpower consistently meets agreed service levels. You'll spend time in both the office and out in the field to lead, drive, and influence a diverse operational team focused on providing oversight on work integration and optimisation.

As a performance champion, you'll be responsible for the operational performance and contractual outcomes of a Regional Service Contract, and usually one or two national Specialist Service Contracts. Read more about these here: https://www.transpower.co.nz/news/transpower-awards-new-grid-service-contracts

While you won't have line management responsibilities, you'll operate as a hands-on leader of performance, and collaborate and coordinate with other Service Delivery Managers, Works Schedulers, Project Managers, and other Regional Delivery team members. You’ll and provide leadership through influence, alongside the Regional Service Manager, to drive a culture of:

Health, safety, and wellbeing first and always
Innovation, excellence, and adaptability for change
A kaitiakitanga approach for our environment, relationships, and assets, and
Being part of an aligned, connected, and high-performing transmission whānau
A full New Zealand driver's license is required as, on average, there may be a couple of days of pre-planned travel per fortnight. As our assets operate 24/7 you will have on call responsibilities as agreed within the Service Delivery Team however, this doesn't tend to impact your personal life unduly. For Grid events (unplanned outages) your situational awareness of grid service and risk will be integral to restoring and improving customer service.

What will you bring?

Well-developed ability to lead through influence rather than positional power or hierarchy, a performance orientation, and the ability to be both nimble and considered. You'll investigate and tackle problems at pace while collaborating and influencing for quick wins and to ensure enduring continuous improvement and practice excellence.

Your CV and cover letter will clearly articulate:

A successful track record improving service delivery performance though others, including safety, quality, risk mitigation and commercial outcomes
Demonstrated success with systematic process of maintaining, upgrading, and operating complex physical assets, cost-effectively, in a safety conscious environment
Astute influencing and relationship management skills, with proven ability to work in a matrix structure across multiple stakeholders and maximising the best possible outcomes
Experience integrating engineering and/or technical principles with sound business acuity, practices, and discipline
Sound understanding of contract management - ideally involving long term service provision of both maintenance and project work
