The expected salary for this position is $4,000 per credit.
The Department of Forest Resources Management seeks to hire a part-time lecturer in 2026W-Term 2 (January 1, 2026 to April 30, 2026)
FCOR 510 (1.5 credits): Professional Communication (1.5 credits)
This course is focused on providing students from different course-based master’s (CBM) programs (MGEM, MSFM, MUFL, and MIF) with epistemological agility. Evidence shows there is a lack of sufficiently effective communication skills among early career graduating professionals to speak to diverse audiences. This course will provide applied opportunities for students to engage in and hone their cross-boundary communication skills. Bringing all the CBM students together will provide opportunities for students to communicate with people and stakeholder groups outside of their topical niche. Students will practice professional communication skills demanded of individuals, and as part of diverse teams, in the field of forestry. This course aims to have students identify audiences, core messages, positionality and practice communicating through diverse media.
The successful candidate will run two sessions of FCOR 510. A larger class, in person with all of the in person CBM students, and a second online version for a much smaller cohort of urban forestry masters students.
The successful candidates will deliver core lectures organize and run tutorial or lab sections; prepare, deliver and grade assignments. The in-person class is scheduled for Monday afternoons; with the online version more flexible in terms of timing of delivery.
Required Qualifications:
PhD in a relevant forestry, natural resource, communications or educational discipline.
Experience in teaching at the graduate level
Desirable: Qualifications:
Online and in person experience.
Experience teaching students from different backgrounds and levels.
