Position Overview
Set-up team members are responsible for the set-up and tear-down of equipment and furnishings for events, ensuring client expectations are met. You will report directly to department leaders, working closely with other team members and departments to deliver outstanding experiences for all guests.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities
Set up and tear down furniture, tables, chairs, dance floors, podiums, stages, and configure rooms using pipe and drape or air walls.
Ensure the venue is restored to its original state after each event or prepare it for the next scheduled event.
Acknowledge and respond promptly to guest requests, communicating special instructions to the appropriate department manager or event coordinator.
Adhere to safety and quality guidelines, wearing PPE as required.
Work collaboratively with team members, and across departments to ensure seamless operations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the set-up area before, during, and after events.
Complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner while observing all safety protocols.
Job Requirements
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job: standing and walking for extended periods, lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying heavy equipment safely.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
Ability to work varied shifts, including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays is required.
Good interpersonal, communication, and guest service skills.
A courteous, professional, and proactive attitude.
Applicant must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Proof of work or student permit, and supporting documentation will be required upon hire

This is a scheduled position with salary in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Convention Centre Corporation and the Canadian Union of Public Employees – Local 500.
