Job Title: Sewing Machine Mechanic Reports To: Maintenance Department Manager Job Summary: The Sewing Machine Mechanic primary responsibility is installed, troubleshoot, repair and maintain sewing machines and related equipment. May also install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to production plans. Responsibilities and Duties: • Perform regular maintenance and repairs to all stitching related equipment. • Able to adjust work schedule as production needs arise. • Work with other departments within the facility to solve sewing machine maintenance problems. • Interact with and maintain a positive relationship with management and department staff. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. • Perform special projects as needed or requested • Perform required lock out procedures for all repairs/maintenance. Qualifications: • 2 plus years of related experience. • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities necessary. • Possess good mechanical skills. • Working knowledge of industrial sewing machines in an industrial manufacturing environment • Knowledgeable in single needle, blind stitch, felling, serge, and automated type machines. • Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic diagrams a plus. • Perform machine setup, trouble shooting, repairs and preventative maintenance. • Be able to diagnose machine problems and make necessary repairs or replacement of worn parts. • Safely use an assortment of hand and power tools, and material handling equipment. • Be able to safely work with electrical, pneumatic, and stored sources of energy. • Ability to prioritize and organize work related tasks and special projects. • Ability to meet deadlines • Flexibility and dependability are also required • Self-Motivated with the desire to excel in performance Physical Requirements: • Must be able to have good visual skills • Work near moving parts and high temperatures. • Occasional overtime is required.
