Location - El Cajon, CA
Shift - 1st Shift (6:00AM - 2:30PM Mon - Fri)
Pay Rate - $20 - 22/HR depending on experience
Job Description -
We are seeking a dedicated Shipping and Receiving Specialist to join our team. This position involves handling the shipping and receiving department duties, and there is a potential for the role to transition into a driver position in the future. You will be responsible for using a computer for shipping labels and tracking parts, as well as operating a forklift.
Responsibilities -
• Unload materials, parts, supplies, tools, and equipment from carriers and company vehicles.
• Route items in receiving to proper destinations within the plant.
• Segregate discrepant items or shipments and process according to standard procedure.
• Identify materials, parts, tools, and items by marking, tagging, and/or coding.
• Operate forklift and company trucks up to 1 ½ tons for local and LA area pick-ups and deliveries.
• Count, package, and protect parts and tooling for shipment.
• Construct pallets and crates for shipment of items.
• Check loading and unloading of equipment/parts for safety and secure loads to company vehicles or carriers.
• Ensure equipment/parts are securely stretch wrapped and/or strapped to prevent damage or loss.
• Check lift trucks and company vehicle tires, brakes, lights, gas, water, and oil levels, and maintain cleanliness of vehicles.
• Notify supervisor of any repairs or maintenance needed.
• Handle necessary paperwork and verify pickup and delivery orders by checking descriptions, part/tool numbers, and quantities.
• Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.
Essential Skills/Qualifications -
• Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in shipping and receiving.
• Ability to count accurately.
• Acceptable motor vehicle record and a valid driver’s license.
• Capability to operate all company vehicles safely.
• Insurable and able to provide a current MVR and a valid California Driver’s License.
• Ability to work with others and follow instructions of the Shop Supervisor.
• Proficiency in maintaining computer logs and records.
• Ability to read and write English at a level required to fulfill essential job functions.
• Experience with forklift operation.
• Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
