Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (1 hour unpaid lunch)
Vacation: 1 week paid vacation after +0 days
Overtime: Opportunity for overtime on some Saturdays
Are you an experienced mechanic with a passion for working on commercial trucks and trailers? Join our team at Macedon Truck & Trailer Repair! We’re seeking a skilled Shop Mechanic to perform maintenance and repairs, including DOT inspections and preventive maintenance (PM) services. This position starts as a temporary role with the opportunity to transition to a permanent position after 60 days, based on performance and fit. Salary is negotiable upon interview.
Position Overview:
As a Shop Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of commercial trucks and trailers. Your role will include performing DOT inspections and PM services to ensure vehicles are safe and compliant. This position offers competitive compensation, with salary negotiable upon interview, and the opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment. Additionally, there are opportunities for overtime on some Saturdays.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on commercial trucks and trailers, including engine work, brake systems, and transmission repairs.
• Conduct DOT inspections to ensure vehicles meet regulatory standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services to keep trucks and trailers in optimal condition.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and provide accurate repair estimates.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve vehicle problems.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Ensure all work is completed according to safety and quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members regarding repair needs and progress.
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a mechanic, with a focus on commercial trucks and trailers preferred. (2+ Years)
• Strong knowledge of truck and trailer repair, DOT inspection procedures, and PM services.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues accurately.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must provide 3 personal references.
