Job Summary:
We are seeking a salon assistant / groomer in training at our busy salon in Leduc Alberta. This is an entry level position and does not require previous experience in the animal industry. This is an opportunity for the right individual to learn to become a dog groomer through hands-on training while assisting in the day-to-day operations of the salon.
• *Duties**:
- Provide exceptional customer service to our clients, assisting them with booking appointments, getting more information, and picking up their animals from our salon
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bathing area, the grooming area, equipment, and tools
- Perform grooming services such as bathing, blow-drying, brushing, nail trims, and ear cleaning for various breeds of dogs with increasing responsibility as you develop these skills
- Ensure the safety and well-being of pets during the grooming process
• *Skills**:
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners, understand their needs, and build rapport
- Ability to handle pets with care and compassion, ensuring their comfort throughout the grooming process
- Artistic ability
- Attention to detail
- Physical stamina to handle heavy lifting when necessary
- Ability to work in a loud and often challenging environment
- Reliable and punctual
- Team player

Initial scheduled hours of work:
Monday 12:00PM - 3:00PM
Tuesday 12:00PM - 3:00PM
Wednesday 12:00PM - 3:00PM
Thursday 12:00PM - 3:00PM
Friday 12:00PM - 3:00PM
Additional hours will be scheduled as your training progresses during our regular hours of operation (7:00AM-4:30PM Monday to Friday)
Expectations:
- Within 3 months be proficient with all cleaning procedures and client administration including check-outs, making client notes, scheduling appointments, and following up with clients.
- Within 6 months be able to completely groom a short coated dog from start to finish without supervision and be able to groom longer hair double coated dogs with little assistance. This is when you should begin purchasing your own tools. At this time a wage review will be conducted.
- Within 12 months be able to completely groom almost all breeds from start to finish without supervision to meet the quality standards of the salon. This is when you should be fully dependent on your own personal tools. At this time a wage review will be conducted.
