The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

The Kura Hākinakina/School of Sport, Exercise and Health at Te Wānanga Aronui o Tāmaki Makaurau/AUT is seeking an outstanding Short Course Manager to lead and grow our diverse portfolio of short courses, including Personal Training, Fitness Instructing, Pacific Nutrition, Medical Terminology, and other continuing education programmes. This full‑time 12‑month fixed‑term role is pivotal in sustaining AUT’s long‑standing partnerships, strengthening industry‑aligned learning pathways, and delivering exceptional experiences for more than 450 learners annually.

In this role, you will:

Provide strategic and operational leadership across AUT’s short course programmes in the Kura Hākinakina/School of Sport, Exercise and Health, ensuring high‑quality planning, delivery, and continuous improvement.
Lead marketing, recruitment, and engagement activities in partnership with AUT Marketing to strengthen visibility and demand across industry and community networks.
Develop, maintain, and steward strong relationships with industry partners, community groups, and professional bodies.
Oversee programme operations including enrolments, logistics, communications, evaluation, and financial coordination to ensure seamless delivery and an excellent student experience.
Contribute to new short‑course development aligned with industry needs, student demand, and Te Kete’s focus on lifelong learning and applied, future‑focused education.
Embed Te Aronui and Te Tiriti‑grounded practices across programme operations, engagement, and partnership building.

Have demonstrated experience in academic programme coordination, relationship management, or a related leadership role.
Excel at building strong, collaborative partnerships with industry, external organisations, and internal teams.
Are highly organised, solutions‑focused, and experienced in managing complex programmes with multiple stakeholders.
Bring strong communication skills across diverse audiences and channels.
Demonstrate an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to culturally grounded practice, with a willingness to engage with Mātauranga Māori and Pacific perspectives.
Are confident with digital systems, administrative processes, and financial monitoring.
A Tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
