the rise of short-form, vertical content is both the biggest opportunity and the biggest challenge for us. the video editor will be at the center of this movement — owning how Leap shows up across reels, shorts, and youtube.
This isn’t “just editing.” it’s about creating content that’s fun, smart, bingeable, and good enough to stand out in the feed of students who scroll 200 reels a day.
our ideal candidate knows the difference between a video that looks “nice” vs a video that actually performs . you hate messy timelines, obsess over pacing, and think retention graphs are just as important as transitions.
above all, you thrive in chaos, move fast, and want to push the boundaries of how educational content can be entertaining.
what you’ll be doing
• obsess over retention & watch-time (first 3 seconds matter).
• design hooks that make students stop scrolling.
• edit short-form & long-form videos (with a heavy focus on short-form).
• repurpose long form videos/webinars into clips that can go viral.
• collaborate with strategists, writers & creators to build an end-to-end pipeline → scripting, storyboarding, production, editing.
• create a consistent brand identity across all videos.
• experiment with trending formats, sounds, and editing styles daily.
• think like a creator, not just an editor → understand what works, what flops, and why.
who you are
• a content nerd : you scroll reels/shorts to study them, not just for fun.
• a storyteller : you can turn a boring “how to prep for GMAT” clip into something engaging.
• a growth-driven editor : you care about performance, not just aesthetics.
• an experimenter : quick to try new formats and iterate.
• bonus: you’ve shot/produced content before.
• prior experience 1-2 years of experience in editing video that has scaled — either viral short-form videos or helping grow a channel from scratch to 50k/100k+ subscribers/followers .
• we love editors who don’t just cut clips, but also know how to leverage ai tools to work smarter and create faster.
