Shuttle Driver

Up North Adventures is looking for enthusiastic and skilled drivers to join our team for this summer 2025 season. We run a bustling and busy shuttle service across the territory, northern BC, and Western NWT to some of the most remote and pristine locations for paddling. You will typically be driving 15 passenger vans with large canoe trailers in tow. Successful applicants will need to have a class 4 drivers license, experience with driving and backing up trailers, the ability to lift and load canoes onto vans and trailers with regularity and give our guests a taste of true northern hospitality. As you will mostly be driving by yourself or with guests you need to be capable of working independently and keeping in communication with the Up North office. The amount of drives fluctuates throughout the season, but drivers must be available from mid-May to mid-September and have the ability to work weekends and holidays.

Wage:

Driver rates are based on combination of driving distance and anticipated time traveling.

Position Requirements:

• Exceptional customer service skills

• Superior communication skills, both verbal and written

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

• Valid Class 4 driver’s license with clean abstract

• Updated First Aid certification with CPR level C

• Fluency in English

Position Duties:

• Act as the final point of contact with guests at the start/end of their adventures

• Maintain a high standard of professionalism at all times

• Conduct a pre-trip inspection of company vehicles and trailers prior to the departure of all shuttles

• Wash vehicles/trailers as required

• Maintain a clean interior of company vehicles

• Follow up with Lead staff and/or Owner regarding any maintenance or repairs required for vehicles and trailers

• Complete checklist of all rental gear & equipment to be loaded (properly secure prior to departure)

• Complete checklist of all rental gear & equipment being returned in shuttle

• Hook up, tow, back-up and disconnect trailers as required

• Complete all guest shuttles in a timely manner, as scheduled to avoid delays

• Load and securely tie down canoes and kayaks on boat trailers/van roof racks

• Unload rental gear, equipment and guests personal gear upon arrival of destination

• Assist yard staff with parking and organizing vehicles in yard for the following days’ shuttles

• Additional duties as required

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Current Wilderness Advanced First Aid or Wilderness First Responder certification an asset

• Fluency in 2nd language an asset (French, German and/or Spanish)
