Shift 1 : Full-Time | Swing Shift | Friday - Tuesday | 3:00pm-11:30pm
Shift 2 : Full-Time | Overnight Shift | Tuesday - Saturday | 11:00pm-7:30am
Position Summary:
The Client Support Specialist at The Village at Midvale, First Day’s newest interim housing site in West Los Angeles, plays a critical role in creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for individuals transitioning out of homelessness. The Village offers temporary, private shelter accommodations for adults referred by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), with the goal of supporting their journey toward permanent housing.
This position is responsible for conducting client intake, maintaining site safety and cleanliness, offering on-the-ground support, and ensuring adherence to program policies. The Client Support Specialist serves as the first point of contact for residents during overnight hours and works closely with case management and operations teams to meet participants’ immediate needs using a low-barrier, trauma-informed, and housing-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities:
• Foster a calm, respectful, and welcoming environment at Midvale Tiny Home Village at all times.
• Support the overnight operations of the site, ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and participant safety.
• Oversee client check-in and bed assignments, ensuring accurate HMIS documentation and compliance with intake protocols.
• Conduct regular rounds of the site, including the tiny homes, communal areas, and surrounding grounds.
• Monitor curfews and program compliance, addressing rule violations respectfully and promptly.
• Provide de-escalation and conflict resolution support using trauma-informed strategies.
• Offer direct support to residents, including distributing supplies, facilitating access to services, and assisting with housing plan milestones (e.g., securing identification or appointments).
• Partner with case managers to relay participant updates and provide reminders for upcoming meetings or services.
• Assist in coordinating on-site activities and community-building events as needed.
• Report all incidents, safety concerns, or emergencies to the Program Manager.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in crisis.
• Ability to document services clearly and accurately in electronic record systems (e.g., HMIS).
• Ability to work independently overnight while maintaining collaborative communication with daytime staff.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based software platforms.
• Professionalism, discretion, and understanding of HIPAA/confidentiality standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in nonprofit, shelter, or social services settings.
• Valid CA driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance.
• Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and TB test (dated within the past 6 months).

The Village at Midvale is part of First Day’s regional expansion into West Los Angeles. Located on a converted LADOT parking lot, the site features 33 tiny homes and comprehensive supportive services for residents as they work toward permanent housing. This innovative program is guided by First Day’s Housing First model and commitment to restoring dignity and stability for unhoused individuals across Los Angeles County.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
