The Site Supervisor leads a team of four Section Leaders and indirect reports to ensure the provision of high quality and effective security and protective services primarily by providing day to day operational oversight of the security guard force and management of the 24/7 roster. This is a busy and dynamic site requiring a leader with a depth of well-rounded security experience and exceptional interpersonal and motivational skills.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing NZDF systems and ensuring standard operating procedures are in place to recognise, report on and take appropriate action.
Monitoring of unauthorised access, risks to the security of buildings, persons and information.
Monitoring and reporting on security incidents and breaches.
Undertaking six monthly and annual performance development reviews, assessing the performance of each allocated team member.
Coaching, mentoring and developing staff by identifying key training and development needs and implementing development programmes to achieve required competency levels.
Championing health and safety standards for all staff and in line with NZDF protocols.
Liaising with onsite NZDF personnel at various levels on operational requirements.
Providing timely briefings and reports as required.
Providing training, education and advice to staff on NZDF security matters.
Providing input into divisional security projects or initiatives as required.
Due to the nature of this role, there is no option to work remotely.
The salary range for this role is $77,141 to $85,594 inclusive of the 4% employer super contribution as well as an additional on call/ call back allowance.

Please note :
There are significant periods of standing and walking around sites as well as the requirement to wear body armour for the majority of most shifts. This armour weighs approximately 3-5 kg depending on size.
You may be exposed to various weather conditions. The NZDF will provide sunscreen and wet weather equipment.

Along with considerable security experience operating within a secure environment, you will be equipped with the knowledge to manage a range of security systems and technology.
Team leadership experience is essential as this role manages a number of direct reports and security personnel. You will have experience in the training and development of staff and conducting performance reviews. You will be passionate about creating and driving a supportive team culture.
Additional skills and qualifications:
Ability to display initiative and good judgement.
Well-developed communication and relationship management skills.
Able to work well under pressure and effectively manage any situations that arise.
Ability to write clear, concise incident reports and to interpret and apply standard operating procedures.
A current (and maintained) First Aid Certificate.
A Class 1 NZ Driver Licence is required, including the ability to drive a manual car.
Highly desired:
Knowledge of the New Zealand Defence Force and the Protective Security Requirements (PSR).
Sound understanding of the provision of operational and protection function, preferably in the New Zealand Public/State Sector context.
A National Certificate in Security and/or similar experience.

Higher Level Security Clearance
You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
