Responsibilities

The Truck Helper assists in picking-up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse; assists in navigating for the Truck Driver; ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the donations when in route; assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with established standards; assists in performing work in the thrift/family store and warehouse

When needed: Sorting responsibilities; receives, sorts, prices and prepares donated items for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Machine and Equipment Operations:

• Perform pallet banding and wrapping operations.

• Set up and change machine settings, including manipulator/stack strips, rewind guides, and female knives.

• Change banding carts as needed.

• Prepare job setup for packers to ensure smooth production flow.

• Operate pallet jack, RoboPack, and hoist for material handling.

• Load and unload slitters efficiently.

• Prepare skids for use in the production process.

• Commitment to Product Safety and Quality:

• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with food safety standards, product legality, and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain high standards for product quality and adherence to internal quality systems.

• General Manufacturing Support:

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas.

• Assist in other duties as assigned by the Shift Manager.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Skills and Abilities:

• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

• Strong written and verbal comprehension.

• Ability to read a ruler and accurately measure materials.

• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the following physical activities, as noted below. These demands are integral to the job and necessary to perform the required duties effectively:

• Lifting: Frequent lifting of up to 65 lbs.

• Walking: Frequent walking (34-66% of the time).

• Standing: Constant standing (67-100% of the time).

• Climbing: Rare climbing (1-5% of the time).

• Pulling/Pushing: Frequent pulling and pushing (34-66% of the time).

• Cramped or Confined Space: Rarely required (1-5% of the time).

• Sitting: Rarely required (1-5% of the time).

Safety Hazards and Requirements:

To ensure a safe working environment, the following safety protocols must be adhered to:

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

• Safety Glasses: ANSI certified Z-87 safety glasses with side-shield protection are required in manufacturing areas.

• Steel Toe Footwear: ASTM certified protective steel toe footwear is required to prevent injuries from heavy parts.

• Hearing Protection: Available but not mandatory in factory areas due to loud noise from operations.

• Hard Hats: Required in areas with construction or overhead work to prevent injury from falling objects.

• Gloves: Required for certain operations within the slitter department (specific jobs and times will be communicated by the Shift Manager).

• Other Hazards:

• Potential exposure to sharp edges (e.g., metal parts, paper) that could cut hands. Gloves are required for specific tasks.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with potential noise, debris, and varying temperatures.

• The role requires working both independently and as part of a team to meet production goals.
