The Selected candidate will work with a highly motivated team involved in development of complex embedded solutions. The candidate will join with our Bangalore development center and will be part of Core Platforms & Products team in Bangalore reporting to PM of the DC.
ROLE : Software Designer :
This position is for a highly motivated, energetic Software Designer who will develop software applications for Train control systems (onboard, wayside)
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
As a Software Designer, you will demonstrate that a software or software component fulfills its intended use when placed in its intended environment (real or simulated). You will interface with System, project, and Quality teams to meet QCD commitments as per the project needs. Our programs employ a full life cycle software development process that is scaled to the size of the project. Comprehensive knowledge on Software engineering disciplines and good level of understanding of software quality through the product development lifecycle are required for this role. Knowledge and experience in Software Programming and Coding Conventions, Testing, Software Design Documentations, Requirement Traceability, Configuration Management, Change Control and Verification & Validation is highly desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop software components, perform the software components detailed design & coding.
Perform Technical analysis of non-compliance reports and new requested features.
Design, implement and integrate new software functionality.
Maintenance and bug fixes, verification of implementations and documentation.
Requirements engineering, root cause and Impact analyses.
Put software work products under configuration management.
Support software / software integration, together with the other software designers
Support hardware / software integration, together with the hardware designers
Sustain the software, stay informed of the evolution of technologies through techno watch.
Contribute to standardization by reusing existing solutions or by implementing reusable solutions, including COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf)
Apply processes and standards, contribute to continuous improvement (RoE: Return on Experience, process)
Promoting the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor/Post-Graduate in Engineering – IT, CS, ECE & EEE or Equivalent
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
6 - 8 years of work experience in software development is required.
Experience in embedded software development on Linux platform.
Expertise in C/Embedded C, C++ and any scripting languages like Python.
Multi core/Multi-threading - RT OS - Linux, VX Works, QNX
Knowledge of any configuration management tool and workflow management tool is essential (ex. ClearCase, ClearQuest, ...)
Awareness of any one of these SDLC models - SCRUM, V-model
Knowledge in Railway Signalling Domain is a huge advantage.
Protocols – TCP/IP, CAN
Standards: CENELEC SIL4 / DO178A / DO178B
