Qualifications
A BS in computer science, engineering, or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle
Experience writing and maintaining code in one or more of the following lanaguages: C++, C, Python, Fortran, Java, and Qt
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy
As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position
WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Software Developer who will support the Incident Modeling and Computational Sciences Group in the Nuclear Nonproliferation Division, National Security Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
• Participate in software development, quality assurance and life cycle management in areas related to nuclear nonproliferation and post-nuclear detonation forensics and consequence management.

Basic Qualifications:
• A BS in computer science, engineering, or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle.
• Experience writing and maintaining code in one or more of the following lanaguages: C++, C, Python, Fortran, Java, and Qt.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with Science and Technology issues associated with nuclear nonproliferation and counterproliferation.
• Experience in work related to relevant offices within DOE and NNSA.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs
