To date we've created stores that let you use an app to enter, take what you want from our fresh selection, and go (Amazon Go) a smart shopping cart that uses computer vision algorithms and sensor fusion to let you skip the checkout line (Amazon Dash Cart) and contactless services that let you pay, enter or identify yourself (Amazon One). The Team: Field Technical Operation is the last mile of technical implementation, operations, and availability for Amazon Physical Retail stores including Amazon Go, Amazon Books, Amazon 4-star, and the new Amazon Fresh Grocery Stores. We are innovating the future of physical retail and we are looking for top talent to make it happen. The Role: We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to build and design tools/systems that support the readiness and performance of the field service workforce and create the ability for these teams to reduce cost and scale. As a Software Development Engineer, you will help solve a variety of technical challenges and mentor other engineers. You will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept in partnership with other technology leaders within the team. You will help invent new features, design, develop and deploy reliable distributed services. You will work with a variety of core languages and technologies including Java and AWS Technologies. You will tackle challenging situations every day and you'll have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon. You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that's higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving problems. Along the way, we guarantee that you'll learn a ton, have fun and make a positive impact on many customers. Basic Qualifications : 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems. Programming experience with at least one software programming language. Preferred Qualifications : Front end development experience on customer facing tools
