Job Description
Digital Acceleration org in Amazon is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Development Manager to build world-class Digital Post Purchase Platform for digital subscriptions, content, and devices. The Digital Post Purchase Platform team owns services supporting the post purchase management for Subscriptions, Content and Devices for 35+ internal clients such as Amazon Prime, Amazon Music, Audible, Kindle, Prime Video, Amazon AppStore, etc.
We are looking for seasoned technical leadership and people management in the form of a Software Development Manager. We would like a person with more than a decade of production software development experience who can manage a team of outstanding developers, make multi-year architectural decisions and lead development efforts for the team.
This candidate will be joining a team working on highly scalable services including modern UX and using native cloud technologies. The work will be highly visible to Amazon customers and internal stakeholders.
As a Software Development Manager, this person will be responsible to understand organizational and product goals and map them to managed project deliverables. They must be able to divide tasks across a team and manage team execution. They are fully responsible for the day to day operations of the team and held to a high standard on the quality of product produced and the quality of ongoing support and maintenance provided to our customers. They must build effective teams and organizational structure, Hire and develop the best talent to execute on their vision. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences and back-end web services, strong technical skills, a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment, high creativity, and great analytical reasoning skills.
About The Team
The Digital Post Purchase Platform team withing Digital Acceleration org owns services supporting the post purchase management for Subscriptions, Content, and Devices for 35+ internal clients such as Amazon Prime, Amazon Music, Audible, Kindle, Prime Video, Amazon App Store, etc.
Basic Qualifications
• 7+ years of engineering experience
• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
